Responsibilities

Operates independently to maintain and support all aspects of PACS site hardware, software and network components, utilizing in-depth knowledge of functional and technical system requirements. Provides design, analysis, and workflow solutions for ancillary system integration in order to optimize PACS. Collaborates with Server, Network, Interface and other technical resources to ensure stability and integrity of PACS.

Essential Functions:

  1. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and solves complex technical problems with hardware, software and networks.
  2. Coordinates set up and ensures stability of modality interfaces with PACS.
  3. Provides teleradiology support for physicians
  4. Responsible for provider onboarding and orientation for PACS and integrated systems.
  5. Responsible for implementation, support and maintenance of imaging voice recognition dictation systems utilized by radiologists.
  6. Installs and maintains hardware, software and other PACS related equipment, including workstations, monitors, operating and application software.
  7. Maintains outside film transfer systems and coordinates VPN set up with Networking Team for sending and receiving facilities.
  8. Assists server team with storage, system and disk performance issues and is a resource to technical teams in support of server system set up and requirements.
  9. Performs routine and regular patching and reboots of PACS and ancillary system servers with identified patching exceptions.
  10. Works with Information Security to ensure security of systems and data for PACS and integrated systems.
  11. Works with providers and clinical staff to ensure data integrity and provide timely access to PACS images for clinical diagnosis.


Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirements. require CIIP or Epic Certification in applications relevant to imaging within 18 months of hire.

Experience:

5+ years of information technology experience in relevant healthcare or business area.

  • Prefer experience with:
    • Windows OS
    • Clinical workstations
    • Server management tools
    • Radiology, Mammography, Cardiology, Ophthalmology Information Systems
    • HL7 Interfaces
    • DICOM
    • PACS standards set by ACR, ACC and other relevant imaging societies.
  • Experience in system implementation, integration or optimization preferred.
  • Experience with relational databases preferred.
  • Experience working with diagnostic imaging providers preferred.

Skills:

Ability to analyze and troubleshoot DICOM protocol. Familiar with HL7 message protocol and transactions relevant to PACS and ancillary systems such as voice recognition/dictation systems and the RIS.
